Webdesk, TNI Islampur, 5th November, 2016: Due to heavy rains in Islampur for the last couple of weeks back the water level of all the ponds at Islampur town is fill up in the brink. This condition is in so much precarious state that the water was lifted by the pump-sets every day from the time of Diwali but with no effective result. At this time when the Chhat Puja is tomorrow, the authorities have enacted temporary wooden shuttering Ghats in the ponds to perform the puja. However, this has made the devotees more concern for their safety during the Chhat Puja as the crowd may increase suddenly. Locals fear that there is a huge possibility that the temporary wooden shuttering may cave in very soon if the number of Chhat devotee increases suddenly in the Ghats. Islampur Municipality chairman Mr. Kanhaiyalal Agarwal has assured that the municipality is prepared to avenge any sort of consequences in this regard. The local councilor of 13 No. Ward of Islampur Municipality Mr. Lakshmi Gowala informed that the authorities have tried to make the Ghats usable but due to huge water quantity it was not possible in due time. In this condition, the fate of the Chhat devotees at Islampur lies in the grace of ‘Chhati Maiya’ during Chhat Puja.
